Women's Basketball Defeats Washington State, 76-64

Pullman, Wash. - UCLA rallied in the second half to defeat Washington State on the road, 76-64. The Bruins trailed 34-27 at the half and 55-46 at the 11:19 mark of the second half but went on a 9-0 scoring run to tie the game at 55 on a Whitney Jones three-pointer with 7:48 remaining. Another Jones basket gave UCLA the lead for good at 59-57 with four minutes to play, and the Bruins closed the game with a 19-7 run.

Junior point guard Natalie Nakase led the Bruins with a career-high 24 points. She had an all-around outstanding game, picking up six rebounds and eight assists with zero turnovers in 38 minutes of play. Senior center Shalada Allen scored a career-high 16 points for the second straight game and also collected eight rebounds to tie with Jamila Veasley for the team-high in rebounding. Jones finished the game with 12 points.

UCLA, which has won two of its last three games, improves its record to 5-9, 2-4 in the conference. Washington State drops to 3-12, 0-5. The Bruins will next host USC on Sunday, Jan. 13 in Pauley Pavilion at 2:00 p.m.
