O'Hara Places Fifth In The Pole Vault At The USA Indoor

Seven other Bruins track athletes will compete tomorrow.

UCLA junior Tracy O'Hara on Friday night placed fifth in the women's pole vault final at the 2001 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships held at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

O'Hara placed fifth with a vault of 13-3 3/4. Placing first was world-record holder Stacy Dragila, who won her sixth consecutive USA Indoor title, with a mark of 14-11 1/2.

From San Diego Rancho Bernardo HS, O'Hara as a sophomore last season won both the NCAA Outdoor and Indoor titles and also set the NCAA outdoor (14-7 1/4) and indoor (14-6) records.

On Saturday, the Bruins will have several other competitors in both women's and men's competition. For the UCLA women, senior Christina Tolson in the shot put and weight throw, junior Chaniqua Ross and freshman Jessica Cosby in the shot put, sophomore Cari Soong in the weight throw and senior Michelle Perry in the 60m hurdles. For the UCLA men, junior Scott Moser and freshman Dan Ames will compete in the shot put.
